How We Help Headaches!
Headaches can take many forms and may vary in frequency, intensity, duration, and cause. Common headache types include tension headaches, migraines, and cluster headaches, each of which can affect daily life differently.
Headaches may interfere with concentration, sleep, work, exercise, and social activities. Depending on the type of headache, symptoms may also include neck or shoulder tension, sensitivity to light or sound, nausea, fatigue, or difficulty focusing.
At Progressive Acupuncture Wellness Center in Lincoln Park, we provide acupuncture and complementary therapies that may be incorporated into a broader headache management plan. Our approach focuses on helping manage discomfort, muscle tension, stress, relaxation, and overall well-being.
Because headaches can have many different causes and triggers, care should be individualized around the type and pattern of headache, associated symptoms, health history, lifestyle, and personal goals.
Acupuncture and complementary therapies may be used alongside appropriate medical care to help manage certain headache symptoms. They do not replace evaluation or treatment for headaches caused by an underlying medical condition.

WHAT OUR PATIENTS ARE SAYING
How Can Headaches Affect Daily Life?
Frequent or severe headaches can affect concentration, sleep, productivity, exercise, work, and social activities. For some people, headache symptoms may also make it difficult to tolerate bright lights, loud sounds, screens, or other common parts of everyday life.
Recurring headaches may be associated with:
- Frequent or persistent head pain
- Difficulty concentrating
- Reduced productivity
- Sleep disturbances
- Neck and shoulder muscle tension
- Fatigue or reduced energy
- Difficulty participating in work or social activities
- Emotional stress
- Reduced quality of life
Headaches can result from many different factors, and a change in headache pattern should not automatically be assumed to be a tension headache or migraine. Appropriate evaluation is especially important for headaches that are new, unusual, persistent, or progressively worsening.
Seek immediate medical attention for a sudden extremely severe headache, a headache following a significant head injury, or a headache accompanied by weakness, numbness, confusion, difficulty speaking, fainting, seizures, high fever, stiff neck, vision loss, or other sudden neurological symptoms.
At Progressive Acupuncture Wellness Center, complementary care may be incorporated into an individualized plan focused on helping manage headache discomfort, muscle tension, stress, relaxation, and overall well-being.
